The Kings County (Brooklyn) Criminal Court at 120 Schermerhorn Street is
the main criminal court for Kings county. The courthouse is organized
into courtrooms called “parts.” Arraignments (the first court
appearance following arrest) generally occur on the first and fifth floor,
seven days a week. Arraignment hours are 9AM to 1AM. Following arraignment,
cases are adjourned (rescheduled) for further proceedings based on whether
the defendant is incarcerated or released and based on the charges. Misdemeanors
stay at 120 Schermerhorn Street and are sent to all purpose parts located
throughout the courthouse. Felonies are sent to 320 Jay Street.
